Built in 1998 in the McQueen area, this lodge has 120 accessible, single and double suites and many common areas in which residents can actively socialize or quietly relax. With a fireplace in the centre, the dining room is spacious and welcoming while the private dining room is an ideal place for family get-togethers. The second floor features a cozy library, perfect for taking in a book or working on a jigsaw puzzle. Beyond the beautiful stained-glass windows at the front of the building lies the retreat room where weekly religious services are held for a wide variety of denominations. For the active senior, McQueen Place offers a variety of exercise classes, a treadmill, a recumbent bike and great walking areas both indoors and out. Volunteers support a variety of regular activities such as carpet bowling, painting, crafts, shuffleboard, pool, card games, bingos, mental aerobics and movie nights. For music lovers, the residents’ rhythm band is always a fun time and the sound of the grand player piano commands a dance or two. With weekly musical entertainment, monthly birthday parties and seasonal galas, there’s always something special on the calendar to look forward to. Convenient on-site features include laundry rooms, a hair salon and gift shop, as well as regular services such as foot care, hearing aid maintenance and wellness clinics.
