Carekeeping: For Reluctant, Resistant and Resentful Caregivers
April 8 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Thursday, repeating until May 13, 2021
I created the Carekeeping course out of my personal desire to be of service to people who stay in and care, even when it is difficult. I want to empower people who care because I believe powerful models of caring are a needed, positive force in our world.
My own caregiving role has been supporting my Mom who lives with MS and now dementia and limited vision. I have learned along the way how difficult it can be an ongoing source of care, how unexpected the burdens of caregiving can be when a health crisis erupts and how it can fundamentally change your sense of who you are. As a coach, I have worked with many clients who neglected to include themselves in their circle of care, who found the balance between self-care and caring only allowed 1 side to happen at a time.
In my own journey, I have been a reluctant, resistant and sometimes resentful caregiving, giving from a well that had run dry. As someone who used to care big until she collapsed, I wanted to offer an alternative where self-care and caregiving could not just co-exist but could make both, better.
