The annual Alzheimers Face Off event is a major fundraiser of the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta & North West Territories. The teams are in place, the race to fundraise is on…and soon the games will happen!
I had the privilege of attending the Alzheimer Face Off luncheon last year as a guest to the Alzheimer’s Society of AB & NWT. It was such a fun and high energy event! It’s a great chance to hobb knobb with NHL alumni.

The weekend kicks off with the Alzheimer Face Off luncheon on Friday, April 26th, followed by draft night and a 2 day tournament at Terwillegar Recreation Centre. This charity event pairs local amateur hockey players with the favourite NHL Alumni as they drop the puck in the battle against Alzheimer’s and other related dementias.
Each team will raise a minimum of $25,000, and based on total dollars raised, will determine the draft order to draft a former NHL player to join their team. Teams will then spend the weekend playing hockey and sharing stories and camaraderie with some of the Alumni’s greatest. Don’t miss this chance to play hockey with and against some of your favourite former NHL players, while creating lasting memories and raising money for a great cause!
Teams have already been determined for the year – now the race is on for top draft picks by highest donations.
